Derived from the plant Phalaris canariensis, the canary seed is a popular choice for your birds, offering a variety of benefits:
Being rich in carbohydrates, these seeds help birds maintain their energy balance, especially for breeding, foraging, flying, and other activities.
Canary seeds contain amino acids essential for growth, tissue repair, and feather production. This protein source helps young birds develop muscle while supporting the reproductive health of adult birds.
These canary seeds positively impact birds' feathers and skin health as they contain healthy fats such as polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids.
This seed includes vitamin E, which protects bird cells against oxidative damage and supports their immune system. It also contains minerals important for muscle functions, bone health, and enzyme reactions.
Canary seeds' high fibre content promotes gut health by helping with digestion and supporting a healthy gut microbiome.

At Kennedy Wild Bird Food & Pet Supplies, we provide high-quality bird food with guaranteed freshness. Our canary seed is free of harmful additives, preservatives, or fillers, ensuring your bird gets the natural goodness.
Being suitable for various bird species, our plain canary seeds are highly versatile as they can be offered as a primary food source or mixed with other seeds.
We offer our domestic bird food in user-friendly packaging, making it easy to store and distribute these seeds to your birds.
Kennedy Wild Bird Food & Pet Supplies offers these highly digestible seeds at affordable prices. With us, you can receive excellent value for your money, and your birds can get maximum benefits from their diet.
Our plain canary seed can be used in foraging activities or bird seed feeders that encourage different bird species to engage in natural behaviour (searching for or pecking at food). This promotes mental and physical stimulation by reducing boredom and keeping birds engaged and active.
For small birds, you can offer 1-2 teaspoons of canary seed per day and adjust the portion based on their activities and size.
For medium-sized birds, provide 2-3 teaspoons of these seeds daily. Monitor their food intake and weight to avoid overfeeding or underfeeding.
For large birds, you can offer 3-5 teaspoons of canary seed and make it a part of the mixed-seed diet.
Utilise a seed feeder specifically designed for small and medium-sized birds to access the food without spilling.
You can opt for tray or hanging feeders depending on the bird species. However, keep them sheltered to protect them from rain, extreme sunlight, or humidity.
Choose daily feeding by refilling bird feeders with fresh seeds. You must remove any uneaten seeds to avoid mould and bacteria buildup.
When it comes to the small birds or birds in breeding and moulting periods, opt for free feeding, allowing them to eat throughout the day. However, you must monitor their food consumption to prevent overeating.
Always provide a fresh water supply with canary seeds to keep your birds hydrated but ensure to clean the water dish daily to prevent contamination.
